How to set up Apple Pay on iPhone2 with the TD app

  • Step 1

    In the TD app, open the More icon at the bottom right, tap 'Settings', and scroll down to tap 'Apple Pay' to continue.

  • Step 2

    Select a card you would like to add to Apple Pay.

  • Step 3

    Follow the onscreen instructions to add your eligible TD Card. Repeat these steps to add your other eligible TD Cards.

How to make purchases

  • In stores

    • Step 1: With your iPhone, double-click the side button and authorize with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode.
    • Step 2: Hold your device near the contactless reader to finish payment.
  • Online and in-app3

    • Step 1: Select Apple Pay as your payment method and confirm your billing and shipping information.
    • Step 2: Authorize the payment with Face ID, Touch ID or passcode.

Where can you use Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is available wherever you see the symbols for contactless payments or Apple Pay, including in stores, online or in-app4.

Step 1: Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone

To make purchases with Apple Watch, just double-click the side button and hold your device near the reader to finish payment.

You can start using your new TD Credit Card with Apple Pay without having to wait for your physical card to arrive in the mail. Simply add an eligible card to Apple Pay on your iPhone using the TD app. See the previous section above with instructions on how to add your eligible TD Card.


iPhone or iPad

  • Go to ‘Settings’ > ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’
  • Tap ‘Default Card’, then choose a TD Card

You can also open Wallet, touch and hold a card, then drag it to the front of your cards

Apple Watch

  • Open the Watch app
  • Tap ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’ > ‘Default Card’
  •  Choose a TD Card

Note: All eligible additional cardholders can add their cards to Apple Pay.


There are a few reasons why your TD Card may not appear in the TD app as available for Apple Pay:

  • The card may not be eligible for Apple Pay
  • The card may be connected to a different profile. If you can't see the card in EasyWeb under My Accounts, this may be the case
  • You may be logged in with a different username and password, i.e., for a business account. You need to log in to the TD app with the credentials that are linked to the TD Card you are trying to add

If you are experiencing issues registering your TD Card with Apple Pay, here are some steps you can follow: 

  • Check your TD Card to make sure you have entered your card details correctly 
  • Check the eligibility of your TD Card with Apple Pay 
  • Check that your device is compatible with Apple Pay
  • Update your device to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, watchOS, or macOS
  • Make sure you are in a supported country or region

Lost or stolen TD Access Card
Feel more confident if you misplace your TD Access Card. As an added layer of security, you can easily lock and unlock your TD Access Card through the TD App while you look for it. Learn more.

Please call 1-866-222-3456 as soon as you discover your TD Access Card is lost or stolen to deactivate your card from use. TD can issue a new TD Access Card that you can add to Apple Pay after it has been activated.

Lost or stolen TD Credit Card
If you think you've misplaced your TD Credit Card, lock it in the TD app and unlock when you've found it. Learn more.

Please call TD's Credit Card Contact Centre at 1-800-983-8472 as soon as you discover your credit card is lost or stolen to deactivate your card from use. You will be issued a replacement and will be able to add your new credit card to your mobile wallet in 1 business day using TD Mobile App (account must be open for 30 or more days) or wait until you've received and activated the card.

Lost or stolen Apple device
You can contact TD Customer Service at 1-888-292-6288 to deactivate your TD Cards in the device.

With Apple Pay, you authorize each purchase with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. And every time you put on your Apple Watch, you need to enter your passcode to unlock the watch. These features will help prevent unauthorized use of Apple Pay on your iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

Plus, if your Apple Device is ever lost or stolen, you have the ability to suspend or permanently remove the ability to pay from that device with Apple Pay. To learn more, visit the Apple website.


Expiring TD Access Card
All your personal TD Access Cards will remain active and available for purchases using Apple Pay until the date of expiry on your physical cards. When you receive your new replacement Access Card, activate it at an ATM or by making an in-store purchase with your PIN to avoid any interruption. Once activated, you can add it to Apple Pay.

Expiring TD Credit Card
Your personal and business TD Credit Cards will remain active and available for purchases using Apple Pay until the date of expiry on your physical cards. You will be mailed a new card and your new card must be activated in order to use your card. Once activated, your new card is ready to use on Apple Pay automatically.

Please see the full list of eligible TD Credit Cards and TD Access Cards (Visa Debit feature not available for online purchases) that support Apple Pay.

Note: Only personal TD Access Cards (not Business TD Access Cards) can be added to Apple Pay. TD Access Cards cannot be added to iPads, and can only be used with Apple Pay for in-store transactions on the Interac® network.


Occasionally, an initial authorization amount will be passed to the Apple Wallet app from locations such as restaurants, gas service stations, hotels and car rental companies, which might be different from the final transaction amount. Note that this is not a charge and you will only be charged the final transaction amount, as it appears on your statement. Always refer to your TD account statement for final transaction details.


Apple Pay works with your eligible TD Cards in eligible countries and regions that support contactless payments.

Note: Additional fees may be charged for wireless data or foreign transactions.


Apple Pay is available for participating transit systems in certain countries and regions. You will need to add your eligible TD Cards to Apple Pay before paying your transit fare.

Compatible cards, including eligible TD Cards, in your Apple Wallet app can also be used with Express Mode, which allows you to pay for transit with Apple Pay without waking or unlocking your Apple device to pay for transit.

There are several reasons why a TD Card may be declined with Apple Pay:

  • Insufficient funds or there is limit on the transaction
  • The TD Card details may not have been entered correctly
  • The TD Card may not be eligible for Apple Pay
  • There may be a problem with Apple Pay or your device which is preventing transactions from going through. Ensure your device is updated to the latest version of iOS or iPadOS, watchOS, or macOS
  • You are not in a supported country or region
  • The merchant terminal does not support contactless payments
